You might be aware of this news that a petition has been filed before the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) by Dr. N.K. Kalia, father of Captain Saurabh Kalia, seeking an investigation into the torture and killing of Captain Saurabh Kalia and five jawans by the Pakistan Army during the Kargil War.

Captain Saurabh Singh (1976 – 1999) was an officer of the Indian Army who died during the Kargil War while being held as a prisoner of war by the Pakistani security forces. He along with five other soldiers of his patrolling team was captured alive and kept in captivity where they were tortured and their bodies mutilated.
"I am ashamed of being an Indian. The country has spineless leaders, “says N.K Kalia, the late Captains’s father. He has also started an online signature campaign to highlight the plight of the war victims.
His father has been moving from pillar to post and has been approaching various national and international organizations to put pressure on Pakistan to identify, book and punish persons responsible for the inhuman and unpardonable crime of keeping his son in captivity for three weeks and subjecting to unprecedented brutal torture as evident from his body. But in spite of his great efforts he is yet to achieve a fruitful result.
This write-up is an astrological sketch of the Late Captain which I am submitting as a tribute for his heroic sacrifice in the Kargil war. I propose to carryout same type of studies for some more heroes of the kargil war and share with you through this blog.
30th June 1976

Jeevakaraka Jupiter is placed in a fiery and martian sign Aries joined with Ketu. Saturn, the Karmakaraka, is with Moon in a watery sign Cancer. Jupiter-Ketu and Saturn-Moon associations have a particular significance in naadi astrology pointing to a divine intention behind the birth of the native and they are well known for spiritual significance and moksha. There is little doubt that the position of Jupiter will indicate a fiery spirit of sacrifice for the sake of the protection of the mother land.

There are no planets behind Jupiter and his enemy Mercury is placed in the 2nd who has exchanged signs with Venus thus bringing out the combination of his bitter enemies Venus-Mercury in the 2nd to Jupiter. This, in addition with the association of a node with Jupiter, indicates a short span of life and humiliating circumstances in the hands of the enemy. Added to this Jupiter will meet Saturn, Mars and Rahu in a sequence in his transits indicating very painful and tragic end involving lot of inhuman suffering.

Karmakaraka Saturn has Mars in the 2nd in Leo, a royal and fiery sign, indicating his employment with the government force. Added to this Jupiter-Ketu in the 10th in Aries, also in a fiery sign confirms a job in the army. The same position of Jupiter-Ketu, planets both standing for lasting fame, in the 10th from Saturn indicates that he will earn everlasting fame that will outlive him.
Saurabh was born on 30 June 1976 at Amritsar, India to Mrs. Vijay and Dr. N.K. Kalia. His schooling took place in the Kendriya Vidyalaya,Holta Camp Palampur. Saurabh graduated in (B.Sc. Med.) from H. P. Agricultural University, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh in 1997. He excelled at school, securing first Division and winning scholarships throughout his academic career.
Mercury, the planet ruling education, is placed in friendly Taurus having Jupiter-Ketu in the 12th and Venus-Sun in the 2nd. Mercury hemmed between two gurus Jupiter and Venus indicates an excellent educational career. Further Mercury having Venus in the 2nd who has exchanged signs with Mercury indicates winning scholarships and getting financial benefit there from. Jupiter-Ketu in a sign of Mars indicates germinating plants in fields. Thus Mercury having Jupiter-Ketu in the 12th indicates his education in some agriculture related field.
He was selected in the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in August 1997 through Combined Defense Services and was commissioned on December 12th, 1998.
The chart erected for 15th Aug 1997 shows that transit Jupiter was opposite to the natal Saturn while transit Saturn was having the natal Jupiter in the 2nd. This indicates the unfolding of his main karma in this life and the start of a significant phase leading to his career. He was ultimately commissioned on 12th Dec 1998 and we can see that transit Saturn has moved over to the natal Jupiter while transit Jupiter has moved opposite to the natal Mars. It is an often repeated principle in naadi astrology that the career of a native will start when transit Saturn first meets the natal Jupiter.

His first posting was in the 4 JAT Regiment (Infantry) in the Kargil Sector. Saurabh arrived there in mid-January, 1999 after reporting at the JAT Regimental Centre, Bareilly on 31 December 1998. In the first two weeks of May 1999, several patrols were conducted in the Kaksar Langpa area of Kargil to check whether the snow had retreated enough for the summer positions to be re-occupied. He was the first Indian army officer to observe and reported large-scale intrusion of Pakistani Army and foreign mercenaries in Indian side of LoC (Kargil). He assumed guard of "Bajrang Post" at the height 13,000-14,000 feet to check infiltration in the Kaksar area.
On May 15, 1999 Saurabh Kalia along with five soldiers - Sepoys Arjun Ram, Bhanwar Lal Bagaria, Bhika Ram, Moola Ram and Naresh Singh of the 4 Jat Regiment had gone for a routine patrol of the Bajrang Post in the Kaksar sector in the rugged, treeless Ladakh mountains. After a continuous cross fire with Pakistan armed forces from across the LoC, he and his troops ran out of ammunition. They were finally encircled by a platoon of Pakistan rangers and captured alive before any Indian reinforcement could reach for their help. No trace of this entire patrol was left meanwhile Radio Skardu of Pakistan announced that Lt. Saurabh Kalia had been captured by the Pakistani troops. It was after this that India discovered hundreds of guerrillas had established fortified positions on the peaks of the hills deep inside the Indian side of the Line of control, with sophisticated equipment and supply lines back to Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
Captain Kalia and his men were in captivity for over twenty-two (May 15, 1999 – June 7, 1999) days and subjected to torture as evident from their bodies handed over by Pakistan Army on June 9, 1999. The postmortem revealed that the Pakistan army had tortured their prisoners by burning their bodies with cigarettes, piercing ear-drums with hot rods, puncturing eyes before removing them, breaking most of the teeth and bones, fractures of the skull, cutting the lips, chipping of nose, chopping off limbs and private organs of these soldiers besides inflicting all sorts of physical and mental tortures and finally shooting them dead, as evidenced by the bullet wound to the temple. The postmortem report also confirmed that injuries were inflicted ante-mortem (before death).

We can see that a very dangerous period is indicated by the transit of the planets on the day of his capture. Transit Jupiter is approaching the natal Jupiter-Ketu in Aries while transit Saturn has already moving over them. Transit Jupiter meeting a transit/natal node and then contacting again transit/natal node next is always a dangerous period. We can see that Jupiter and Ketu have met together in Aquarius in 1998 and now transit Jupiter is about to meet natal Ketu next in Aries. Transit Saturn is over native Ketu while transit Rahu is on natal Saturn in Cancer. Further, transit Mars was retrograde over natal Rahu in Libra opposite to transit Saturn thereby completing the picture of his humiliating capture followed by death due to inhuman torture.
7th June 1999
On the day of his death it can be seen that Jupiter has entered Aries afflicted by natal nodes and transit Saturn-Mars.
On June 9, 1999, NK Kalia had received the body of his son, Captain Saurabh Kalia, handed over by the Pakistani army to Indian army commanders at the Kargil sector, with evidence of torture.
Let us hope that the Indian government, UN and the civil society of the world will strive to bring justice to the sorrow filled heart of Dr. N.K. Kalia. Unless this is done it will damp the patriotic spirit and heroic instinct of the countless youth of the country and also the army. The society which does not care for its protectors is doomed. The late Captain Kalia will however be in Veeraswarga as stated by our scriptures.
