As a continuing process of
gaining knowledge through experience in Nadi astrology I have decided to
discuss current events and persons related to them, in this blog as frequently
as possible. The nadi system I am following in these discussions is nandi nadi
which turned out to be amazingly correct though apparently simple. There is no
need of exact time of birth or ascendant for nadi analysis of horoscopes. The
readers can themselves understand the subtlety and beauty of this system by
going through these discussions.
Malala Yousafzai
The first horoscope I am
discussing belongs to Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot by the
Taliban for expressing her views opposing their ban on female education. She
has survived the bid though seriously injured in the head. She was flown to UK
after her condition stabilized in Pakistan.
12th July, 1997
Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997. Birth horoscope
presented here is for 6:00am at Kolkata, India, my present place of stay. There
will not be much difference in the planetary positions except for Moon. Here
Moon will be in the same sign for the entire duration of the day. Readers are
requested to ignore the ascendant.
Jeevakaraka Jupiter is placed in his debilitation aspected by his dire
enemies Venus and Mercury. There are no planets in the three signs behind
Jupiter but Ketu is placed in the 2nd. This normally indicates short
life within balarishta span i.e. within 1st cycle of Jupiter – 12
years of age. However there is sign exchange between Saturn and Jupiter there
by Jupiter moves to Pisces receiving the aspect of his friend Mars. Further, as
Jupiter is retrograde Jupiter moves to Sagittarius, his own house receiving the
aspect of Sun from Gemini. Saturn-Jupiter exchange indicates that the native
will escape from the danger and will have long life, more than 5 cycles of
Jupiter i.e., 60 years of age.
Sign exchange between Saturn and Jupiter, Mercury and Moon holds a
significant meaning here. Saturn gets the aspect of Venus-Mercury while Jupiter
gets the opposition of Moon. These are quite powerful combinations added to the
already existing Jupiter-Saturn, Jupiter-Sun combinations. Futhermore, the
karmakaraka Saturn meets Sun first aspected by Jupiter and then Venus-Mercury.
This is a powerful combination of political status, wealth, popularity and
celebrity life.
She has two younger brothers. She is a school student and education
activist from the town of Mingora in the Swat District of Pakistan's Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa province. She is known for her education and women's rights
activism in the Swat Valley, where the Taliban has at times banned girls from
attending school. Yousafzai was shaped in large part by her father, Ziauddin
Yousafzai, who is a poet, school owner and an educational activist himself,
running a chain of schools known as the Khushal Public School.
Jupiter gets the aspect of Mars
and Sun there by indicating two brothers. Exchange between Mercury and Moon
getting the association of Mars and Saturn indicates absence of female
siblings. Sun is the planet ruling over father. Sun has Venus and Mercury in
the 2nd aspected by Jupiter. Venus and Mercury in the 2nd
to Sun explains father’s poetic credentials while the association of
Venus-Mercury-Jupiter in the 2nd to Sun explains his profession as a
school owner running a chain of schools and as an educational activist.
Retrograde Jupiter getting the aspect of Sun indicates the influence of
native’s father on her life.
Yousafzai apparently started
speaking about education rights as early as September 2008. Her father took her
to Peshawar to speak at the local press club. "How dare the Taliban take
away my basic right to education?" Yousafzai told her audience in a speech
that was covered by newspapers and television channels, throughout the region.

The chart erected for 15th
Sep 2008 shows that Jupiter was transiting in Sagittarius having the natal
Jupiter, Ketu and Saturn ahead and getting the aspect of natal Sun. This
explains the beginning of her activities and coming to lime light.
Sun-Jupiter-Ketu association indicates fame and government favors. However,
Saturn was transiting in Leo where Rahu is placed in the natal chart. Transit
Saturn has natal Mars-Saturn opposition in the 2nd indicating life
threatening situations for the native. Rahu’s transit over natal Jupiter
reinforces this.
Yousafzai wrote a blog under a
pseudonym for the BBC detailing her life under Taliban rule, their attempts to
take control of the valley, and her views on promoting education for girls. The
first entry of the blog was on 3rd Jan 2009. The blog captures
Yousafzai's troubled psychological state during the First Battle of Swat, as
military operations take place, fewer girls show up to school, and finally, her
school shuts down.

In the natal chart Saturn,
the Karmakaraka, is involved in sign exchange with Jupiter and gets the
association of Mercury, Moon, Mars and Venus. This explains the native will be
involved in writing, broadcasting some feelings about tense situations. Transit
Saturn was retrograde in Leo having exchanged Mercury, Moon and Mars in the 2nd
aspected by natal Saturn. Transit Jupiter in Capricorn gets the aspect of
Mercury and exchanged Moon from Cancer. This explains the triggering of the
events for her blogging about the Taliban extremism.
The following summer, a New York
Times documentary was filmed about her life as the Pakistani military
intervened in the region, culminating in the Second Battle of Swat.
By the summer Jupiter has
moved into Aquarius having natal Saturn in the 2nd who is involved
in sign exchange with natal Jupiter. This explains her raising popularity.
Yousafzai began to rise in
prominence and became a celebrity, giving interviews in print and on television
and taking a position as chairperson of the District Child Assembly Swat on 22nd
Dec 2009. She has since been nominated for the International Children's Peace
Prize by Desmond Tutu in October 2011, and has won Pakistan's first National
Youth Peace Prize in Dec 2011.

Saturn moved over to Virgo
over natal Moon-Mars and exchanged Mercury aspected by the natal Saturn.
Jupiter was transiting in Aquarius and as explained earlier these transits
indicate her popularity.
Meanwhile, Jupiter
transited over Pisces where natal Saturn is placed indicating a highly
fortunate and significant period. However, transit Jupiter is getting into
confrontation with transit Ketu which indicates the gathering storm.

First time Jupiter-Saturn
opposition in transit occurred during the 2nd round of Jupiter
explaining the award.
On 9 October 2012, Yousafzai was
shot in the head and neck in an assassination attempt by Taliban gunmen while
returning home on a school bus. In the days immediately following the attack,
she remained unconscious and in critical condition, but later her condition
improved enough for her to be sent to a hospital in the United Kingdom for
intensive rehabilitation on 15th Oct 2012.

Jupiter’s transit over natal
Saturn-Mars opposition and meeting the nodes after that in transit indicates
the time of physical danger. Transit Jupiter meeting Ketu in a sign that is
placed in the middle of Rahu-Ketu axis is also dangerous. Here transit Mars and
Rahu aspect transit Jupiter. This indicates the shooting and attempt to kill
her. However, as natal Jupiter is involved in sign exchange with Saturn the
native has survived the bid.
Her future life
Saturn-Jupiter-Venus-Mercury-Sun-Mars
association forming in this chart indicates that she will lead a life of
significance, popularity, wealth and political power. Transit Saturn over
Capricorn and Cancer will always enhance her status. She will have a very
bright future when Saturn starts moving in Taurus in the 2nd round,
which is from her 35-37 years of age.
However, she will always be
prone to physical dangers, accidents, assaults etc as natal Jupiter meets a
node then Saturn aspected by Mars in a sequence from his natal position.
